Outreach Program

Outreach workers assist children, youth and families who are experiencing problems, visiting them regularly to offer practical help and emotional support. The aim is that children and youth are supported within the family and/or community to be healthy and safe, and to build on their own supports and strengths. The outreach support will be provided to women whom are residents of ONTEH and after they leave the residence.

Grief Recovery

Weekly Healing Circles are held for women in residence and women in the community. Circles are facilitated by an Elder, community health professional, Penticton Indian Band staff or ONTEH staff depending on the topics. Topics can be directed by women’s selection but will include; Intergenerational impact of residential schools on family systems, cycle of violence, self-esteem, traditional parenting, spirituality and other cultural ceremoniestraditional parenting, spirituality and other cultural ceremonies
